Does your brain know you’re drinking Diet? | Neurotic Physiology
“The question comes down to this: are the same areas of the brain activated when you drink sugary drinks as opposed to drinks sweetened with non-caloric sweetener?”
Not to spoil the surprise, but your brain can tell the difference. I won’t tell you which direction that difference is noted, though. You’ll have to read more for that. I think that the study (as described) doesn’t take into account the tasters’ previous opinions and experiences with diet drinks and the obvious fact that you can consciously tell the difference. But it’s certainly intriguing.
Scicurious’ loyalties are clear due to her capitalization of “Diet” :-)
