NASA’s Next Mars Rover Launches Successfully
Perched atop an Atlas V rocket, the Mars rover Curiosity began its 252-day journey to the red planet this morning.
The rover is the size of a small car, and is slated for almost two years of continuous probing and exploration starting next year. Its landing will be a nail-biting experience, as it’s the largest craft ever delivered to Mars, but its slate of on-board scientific instruments will provide us with information about our planetary neighbor like never before.

I'm working to change the way science is communicated and restore it to its rightful place. This is an indie blog that takes many hours a week to publish. If you'd like to support It's Okay To Be Smart or just buy me a drink, please consider even a small donation. Together we CAN!
