$Fracking: Is there really 100 years’ worth of natural gas beneath the United States? Chris Nelder takes a look at the actual data and offers some sharp criticism on the gas industry’s estimates of a “100-year supply” of natural gas. This aligns quite well with some of my feelings on fracking. I’m not uncomfortable with the process or the technique, and from what I have researched it can be pretty environmentally neutral when done carefully. And being from Texas I know first-hand how incredibly important the multi-layered industry is to small communities. But what I am not comfortable with is that it is viewed as the fuel of the future instead of a stepping stone to something purely renewable.
