Perseids 2012
The annual Perseid meteor shower peaks this weekend, with the Earth crossing through the dusty tail of comet Swift-Tuttle. In the early morning hours of August 11, 12 and 13 a waning moon will provide the best opportunities to watch. The Perseids could provide more than 40 shooting stars per hour!
For more tips and details on how to watch for the Perseids, check out EarthSky’s guide. And don’t forget to consult my handy (and attractive) meteor shower calendar!
