There’s a former president on another planet. This Lincoln penny from 1909 serves as a size calibration for the Curiosity rover’s cameras, one of which captured this image while rolling around on the red dirt.. Looks like Lincoln is pretty satisfied with the view.

This is a simple battery made from a stack of coins and saltwater-soaked paper. A grade-school science experiment, but a photo that captures the simple “wow” feeling of an experiment, don’t you think?
