Bustin’ Up The Boys’ Club
You’re right that inventions by females might be harder to find. Not because they haven’t been inventing since time eternal, but because society has suppressed those accomplishments. We are just emerging from an era where the boys were running the show (and with the recent reports of Silicon Valley “brogramming” culture, some would say they still do).
But I’m fairly certain that women have always had their hands in the inventor’s game. I could Google you a list of pertinent examples, but that’s no fun. So let’s make some homework out of this, folks!
Ladies (and gentlemen), can you find a female inventor that’s relevant to your interests? Reblog this with your example, and tell us all a bit about why they are special to you. We all know in our hearts that women can create with as much spark and brilliance as any man, and probably better. Together I hope we can make a pretty fine catalog of female invention, an inspiring collection of XX creators.

I'm working to change the way science is communicated and restore it to its rightful place. This is an indie blog that takes many hours a week to publish. If you'd like to support It's Okay To Be Smart, please consider even a small donation. Together we CAN!
